If you’re wanting to redecorate your living room, but are concerned about how you will hide the receipts from your husband and can already hear the ‘We don’t need this’ speech, then this blog is for you.
You’d be surprised how a few small (and affordable) changes can make a space look and feel completely different.
Redecorating your home can sometimes feel like an overwhelming job. But instead of giving your living room a complete overhaul, we like to choose versatile furniture items that will stand the test of time, and simply switch out textiles and accessories to create a fresh new look. Whether you like to change your interior with the seasons or to match current trends, we want to show you just how easy it can be to spruce up your space.
To help give you some inspiration we wanted to showcase 3 ways to style our new Havana modular. This versatile sofa can be styled among a variety of interiors. Perfect for an apartment or smaller home as the slimline design will introduce an openness in a tighter space while still providing plenty of seating for the entire family.
We simply used different colour palettes, homewares and artworks to achieve 3 very different looks using this one sofa as our base canvas. Keep scrolling to see exactly how we achieved each look, including some product picks from our range to get you started!
LIVING ROOM LOOK 1: SUMMER STYLING
Using the warm Summer months as our inspiration we were able to create a space that emanates warming and welcoming vibes by incorporating rich green colours through our homeware and artwork selections.
LIVING ROOM LOOK 2: HERE COMES AUTUMN
Summer has left, but here in Australia, the warmer days do tend to linger throughout the beginning of Autumn. This scene has been styled using a warm, neutral colour palette with a combination of textiles to give the space depth and plenty of interest. We’ve added in a few artificial plants for a pop of colour.
LIVING ROOM LOOK 3: STAY IN & STAY WARM
Do you find that your mood changes slightly with the seasons? The days grow darker and shorter and every morning is harder than the previous to jump out of bed and get motivated for the day. You just want to snuggle up on the sofa and ‘Netflix and Chill’ all day long. We’ve styled this scene with this vision in mind. A combination of dark neutrals, heavy layering with a nice big throw rug and a few coffee table books to keep your mind busy on those days where leaving the sofa isn’t on the agenda.
LIVING ROOM REDECORATING TIPS
Redecorating your living room doesn’t have to break the budget or feel completely overwhelming. Keep these tips in mind to help you freshen up your living room styling throughout the seasons:
- Start with high-quality pieces when it comes to your key items such as lounges, floor rugs and coffee tables. These are usually the more expensive items that you won’t want to replace every six months - so opting for a higher quality will give you a bigger return on your investment.
- Using neutral colours and materials for your statement items will also make it easier to update the look as seasons and trends change. For these looks, we chose our popular Brighton sofa, Sadka rattan coffee table, Habitat floor rug and Aruna cane sideboard - each in versatile tones of greys and browns that won’t date quickly.
- One of the quickest and easiest ways to update your living room is through artworks and cushions. We recommend choosing your hero artwork first, and using these colours as inspiration for your soft furnishings. Check out our colour palette tips and inspiration here!
