TERRANORA RENOVATION

Our Director, Bec Lawson recently transformed these room makeovers for one of her clients family home in Terranora. Here's what she had to say;   "We met these beautiful clients after their builder brought us in to help with the colours and finishes selections for their clients renovation.  The builder had been recommended to use us by a cabinet maker that we both work with.   These clients have lived in this home for many many years, they raised their family there and it is their forever home - however it was looking a bit old and dated.  We worked closely with the owners on this project, first meeting onsite with the Builder and Cabinet Maker to see the current space, understand how they use it and their families needs and wants.  I also spent time understanding what the owners ideal outcome was and the look and feel they wanted.  After spending some time researching and sourcing everything from paint colours to tile and grout colours, tile lay patterns, cabinetry colours and tap ware etc the owner signed off on all the selections and suggestions and it was over to the builder and cabinet maker to bring it all to life.   As you can see from the end results it looks like a brand new and completely different home, our clients are so happy and in love with their new space and we are continuing to help them furnish other areas in their home. We love being able to help our clients on their journey to create the extraordinary in their home."   Main Bathroom  Gone were the days of pink bathrooms (That was so 1950s). There is nothing more grandeur than large format floor to ceiling tiles in the bathroom! The old built-in bathtub was removed and replaced with a free standing tub which was then re-position under the window, this allowed for a lot more floor space which in the end added to that grandeur feeling.  A new vanity was installed and extra cabinetry was added, because who doesn't love storage in the bathroom! Another tip to make a room feel bigger is to install a floating vanity. Another outdated feature in the old bathroom was the timber used for the door and architrave, this was replaced with a panelled feature door which was then painted white to not only add to the modern style but also tie in with the cabinetry.  The frameless shower screen is another feature that is a great way to minimise the heaviness in the bathroom.  To ensure you get a cohesive look throughout the room, use the same feature tile in the built-in shower nook to the same tile that is used as above the vanity.    Ensuite  The ensuite is another important room of the house, especially if a family is living in the house. Who ever said they don't want a 2nd bathroom - less fights and no lines to the toilet.  What a transformation! The same tiles as the main bathroom, were also used in the ensuite, another way to make the whole house feel cohesive.  A second basin was added on top of the new floating vanity. Not only is this practical (for marital reasons), but having double basins adds that all important grandeur feeling. Venetian blinds were a thing of the past, these were replaced with shutters and finished off in a white. A large mirror cabinet was installed to give this ensuite extra storage, but it also fills the room with light Main Bedroom The biggest problem in this room was the dark coloured furniture which made the room feel a bit bland and outdated. We removed the wall lights and replaced these with pendant lights hanging over both the side tables. To frame the bed we had a custom bed head made in a Warwick fabric - Bodhi in Pearl. The tufted button detailing adds a sense of luxury to this room.  New white bedside tables replaced the dark timber and a lick of paint fills the walls which gives the illusion of making the room feel bigger.    For more information or if you want like to find out more about our In Home Consultation service, please email design@tailoredspace.com.au or phone (07) 5523 9825.
