Our favourite interior design trends for 2018! | Gold Coast interior design

Being interior designers ourselves, we always try to keep our finger on the pulse when it comes to emerging interior design trends. And as we wrap up another incredible year we thought it would be the perfect time to forecast what's in store for interior styling in 2018!

We’re pretty excited about the interior design trends on the rise next year, from creative colour palettes to furniture styles and unique furnishings. If you’re planning on refreshing your home styling for the New Year, take a look at some of our favourite design trends below to get the inspiration flowing!

2018 Interior design trends: Earthy colour palettes

We’re predicting a rise in earthy and organic tones when it comes to colour choices for interior design in 2018. Some of our favourite tonal picks include beautifully burnt terracotta, rust, sienna, sage green and charcoal to name a few.

We recommend pairing these statement colours with lighter pastels like pale pink and coastal blues for a fresh, modern look. To avoid overwhelming your space, think about incorporating these earthy tones through accent pieces like cushions, bedding, statement upholstery and accessories. Botanical artworks featuring native florals and printed landscapes are another great way to showcase these colours in a subtle but effective way!

2018 Interior design trends: Velvet

It’s all about statement furniture pieces next year to bring living rooms to life, and we can’t go past beautiful velvet armchairs in particular to really make an impact. We’re predicting velvet accent pieces in rich tones to be featured throughout stylish homes next year, adding an elegant and luxe touch into any space.

Velvet armchairs aren’t just limited to living rooms either - they can be positioned in the corner of your bedroom, or even used for your home office. Bonus points for taking this trend a step further and incorporating velvet cushions and textiles into other spaces too, ensuring your look flows cohesively throughout the home.

2018 Interior design trends: Lush greenery

Gorgeous greens have been trending for a while now, and it’s not slowing down anytime soon! In fact, we think we’ll be seeing even more lush plants filling homes in 2018, as homeowners look to breathe some life into their different living spaces with beautiful botanicals.

From giant fiddle figs and palms to delicate trailing vines, our view is - the more greenery, the better! Try to include a mix of different plants in varying heights for a natural and organic look. Planters and other stands are a great way to really showcase the best of your greenery, while also tying into your chosen interior design style.

2018 interior design trends: Sheer curtains

When it comes to the most stylish window treatments for 2018, we're expecting to see more sheer draping options as opposed to blinds or heavier linens.

Sheer curtains are a great way to allow more light to filter through the home, and make such a visual impact in homes with high ceilings. We love sheer draping in pale pastels, soft pinks and light grey tones to add beautiful detail and some subtle colour into any space!
