Are you currently planning to build a new home but feeling stuck with selecting colours, fixtures and finishes?
If so, you’re definitely not alone! Many homeowners struggle with the decision-making process involved in designing a home. From choosing internal and external paint colours right down to cabinetry hardware, planning your new home build can feel complicated and overwhelming without the right knowledge.
Here at Tailored Space Interiors, our popular Pre-Build Consultations can often be the perfect solution for homeowners looking for some professional assistance with the design elements involved in home construction.
With our expert eye for design, years of industry experience and plenty of successful projects under our belt, our qualified interior designers can take the stress out of decision-making for your upcoming build.
So today on the blog, we wanted to share exactly what our Pre-Build consultations include, what the process looks like, and some key reasons to consider one for your new home!
What are the benefits of a Pre-Build Consultation?
There are so many decisions to make when it comes to designing a new home! Every last detail needs to be considered, from flooring to fixtures and everything in between.
If you don’t have any previous experience with home construction, this means you’ll likely need to spend hours researching different options which can be both stressful and time-consuming.
Our Pre-Build Consultations help to take a huge weight off your shoulders, with our qualified interior designers creating a detailed schedule of finishes to align with your own personal tastes and preferences. This helps our clients actually enjoy the building process and feel excited about their new home, instead of being anxious or overwhelmed!
As well as working directly with homeowners, our Pre-Build Consultations are also available for builders and contractors looking to streamline the building process with their clients.
How does a Pre-Build Consultation work?
If you’re planning to build a new home, we can work with you from the plans to create a detailed Schedule of Finishes with all of the design selections you need to move forward with your build.
All of our Pre-Build services begin with an initial client consultation. We allow 1.5 hours for full Internal or External consultations, or 3 hours for Full Home consultations (which can be broken into 2 x 1.5 hour sessions if preferred).
This consultation takes place at our Tweed Heads showroom which includes an array of samples available to help you visualise how the design will all come together. Our samples can also be taken home on the day, allowing you to share this visual with friends and family!
We ask you to bring an Ideas Book with any inspiration you may have collected, to help us identify the direction for your schedule of finishes. This allows our interior designers to tailor their selections to suit your own unique vision. When working directly with builders, we also ask for any preferred suppliers or predetermined elements that we need to keep in mind with our selections.
During our consultation, we cover off on selections for:
- Internal and External Paint Colours (including doors, skirting and architraves and feature walls)
- Selections for any other external material where not already predetermined on the plans e.g. stone cladding and brick colour
- Roof and Guttering Colour
- Window Frame and Sliding Door Colours
- Garage Door Colour and Style
- Internal and External Door Design and Colour
- Door Hardware Selections
- Robe Door Frame and Panel Colours
- Driveway Colour
- Letterbox, Clothesline and Water Tank Colours
- Kitchen and Bathroom cabinetry (if needed), including stone tops, cabinetry colours, door handles, placement of colours and materials
- Floor Coverings
We then allow 5 business days to prepare a detailed Schedule of Finishes spreadsheet, including all finalised selections based on our initial consultation.
Here at Tailored Space Interiors, we’re passionate about helping our clients create their dream homes through our Pre-Build Consultation services!
